Background
The Rory Peck Trust provides practical and financial support to freelance journalists and their families worldwide, assisting in times of crisis and helping them to work more safely and professionally.
They approached me wanting to do a full redesign of their website alongside an update in their branding. Their old site had become too big, cluttered and confusing to navigate. Some design aspects had also become outdated. Overall, the site needed to be freshened up, simplified and condensed down.

Approach
Before beginning any design work, I worked closely with the team to cut down and re-organise their content. From this, it was clear that they wanted to highlight three key areas of their work:
- Assistance – providing direct financial and practical support to freelance journalists and their families globally.
- Resources – free online resources tailored to the safety, security and professional development needs of freelance journalists.
- Recognition – in the form of their annual awards event which aims to give freelance journalists the recognition they deserve, rewarding the most outstanding work produced each year.
These were the focal points of the redesign.
